· Dramatic design inspired by Cadillac Sixteen Concept
· New 3.6L direct-injection V-6 - more power, less fuel consumption and lower emissions
· Hand-crafted interior combined with leading technologies and electronics
GM Canada announced today that the all-new 2008 Cadillac CTS, arriving at dealers next month, has an MSRP of $38,900 with the standard 3.6L V6 engine and $41,400 with the premium 3.6L direct-injection engine.
“Cadillac takes its renaissance to the next level with the all-new 2008 CTS,” said Norm Sawula, Cadillac Marketing Manager. “The CTS uniquely combines dramatic styling, a hand crafted interior, spirited performance and excellent ride and handling, to challenge the world’s best. With many new standard features and very competitive pricing, the 2008 Cadillac CTS is even more desirable to luxury sport sedan buyers.”
The 2008 Cadillac CTS features GM’s new 3.6L direct-injection V-6 VVT engine, delivering 304 horsepower and 273 lb. -ft of torque. Operating with regular unleaded gasoline, this sophisticated engine produces power similar to many V-8s, but with significantly less fuel consumption. The direct-injection technology contributes to a 15-percent increase in horsepower; 8-percent increase in torque, and 3-percent improvement in brake-specific fuel consumption.
The 2008 Cadillac CTS continues to be offered with the highly regarded 3.6L V-6 which produces 263 horsepower and 253 lb.-ft of torque as standard equipment. As well, the 2008 Cadillac CTS is available, for the first time, in rear-and all-wheel-drive configurations and the transmission lineup now consists only of six-speed transmissions – an Aisin six-speed manual or – new for CTS – a 6L50 six-speed automatic.

The braking and steering systems for the Cadillac CTS are all-new, with extensive revisions made to the suspension to accommodate the larger rear track. With innovations adapted from the high-performance Cadillac V-series, the 2008 Cadillac CTS provides notably increased responsiveness, premium “feel” and performance in spirited driving conditions. In addition, the 2008 CTS features Cadillac’s StabiliTrak electronic chassis control system, integrated with the standard four-channel ABS with full-function traction control, hydraulic brake assist and engine drag control systems.
With the 3.6 L V-6 powerplant, the 2008 Cadillac CTS features substantially more standard equipment. An all-new cabin design features handcrafted accents and includes standard leather seating with heated and ventilated driver and front passenger seats, an Ultraview sunroof which covers 70% of the roof and an upgraded instrument panel cluster with multi-line Driver Information Centre. Also standard are 17-inch wheels, polished aluminum exhaust tips, Stabilitrak stability enhancement system, BOSE 8-speaker sound system and tire pressure monitoring.
With advanced technologies and electronics such as Adaptive Forward Lighting system, Keyless Access system with Smart Remote Start, BOSE 8-speak audio system and a touch screen navigation that retracts into the instrument panel, the all-new Cadillac CTS is at the forefront of the industry. In addition to these technologies, CTS is designed to enhance Cadillac’s reputation for providing a safe occupant environment with a segment-first dual depth front passenger air bag, dual-stage driver’s front air bag, driver and front passenger side seat-mounted airbags and roof-rail side curtain airbags.

General Motors UK operational headquarters in Luton has assumed responsibility for sales, marketing, distribution and aftersales for Cadillac, Corvette and Hummer in the UK market following a strategic review by the official European importer, Kroymans Corporation and General Motors Europe.
As part of a long term strategic plan, GMUK will continue to work with the Kroymans Group, the official European importer of Cadillac, Corvette and Hummer based in Holland, together with the Pendragon Group, retailers of Cadillac and Corvette in the UK. Kroymans Corporation will continue to provide back office services for GM in the UK.
The overall and long term objective is to grow these brands from the existing strong foundations and offer consumers the highest quality of sales and service. The existing GMUK organisation, comprising Chevrolet, Vauxhall, Saab, adds considerable expertise in the crucial areas of retail and business sales, marketing and aftersales operations. This expertise will be leveraged across the three new premium brands.
With this new initiative, GMUK now offers a comprehensive portfolio of products, appealing across all sectors of the market, from the Chevrolet Matiz city car through to the ultimate off-road HUMMER. Cadillac and Corvette will continue to be retailed through established Pendragon retailers while Hummer will be sold through a brand new network which is in the process of being established.
Operationally, these premium niche brands will be led by Jonathan Nash as Director in charge. Jonathan will also continue his role as Managing Director, Saab Great Britain.
Cadillac and Corvette have been on sale in the UK market since November 2004. Significant investment has been made in new build showrooms by the Pendragon Group where these brands are sold through its Stratstone network. In order to maximise the sales opportunity in demographically strong metropolitan areas for these brands, the existing network will be re-focussed into five outlets with a new site in Edinburgh alongside existing operations in Birmingham, Park Lane London, Newcastle and Reading.
A number of Hummer retailers will be announced nearer to support of start of sales in September.
Cadillac is GM’s global premium brand. Its establishment as a premium brand in Europe has been led by new product introductions such as the compact premium BLS saloon, targeted specifically at this market. The new product programme has taken a further step forward with the recent launch of the SRX 7-seat, 4 wheel drive SUV and the soon to be available all-new CTS mid range premium saloon – both with right hand drive.
Corvette, the classic all-American sports car, has seen steady growth in its niche. Corvette sales will continue to rise with the introduction of several exciting new derivatives in 2008.
HUMMER is a niche SUV with the slogan ‘Like Nothing Else’. It has established a strong presence in the UK through a considerable number of sales of the iconic H2 model. GMUK will build on this success with the smaller H3, a little brother to the H2 and now available in right hand drive. GMUK plan to extend the Hummer retail network with a number of new outlets in key metropolitan areas of the UK over the next two years. All petrol-engined HUMMERs will feature a bio-fuel option within three years and the new H3 will add an efficient diesel engine in the medium term.
